Der Hauptzweck dieses Formates ist der kompatible Austausch von Beschreibungen der IED-Fähigkeiten und des SAS zwischen technischen Arbeitsmitteln der IEDs und den technischen Arbeitsmitteln des Systems von unterschiedlichen Herstellern.
